Our History
2001
On July 1, 2001, SVACA begins providing animal care and control services as a Joint Powers Agency.
2006
In 2006, SVACA’s state-of-the-art Animal Care Center opens providing services for Campbell, Monte Sereno and Santa Clara. Real-life adoption rooms are featured which is a first for animal control agencies.
2008
In 2008, Friends of SVACA, our nonprofit counterpart, was established to support our mission.
2010
In 2010, SVACA becomes “No-Kill” for dogs and other animals (rabbits, birds, turtles, etc.).
2012
In 2012, SVACA begins providing services for Mountain View.
2014
In 2014, SVACA becomes “No-Kill” for all animals that come through our doors.
2023
In 2023, SVACA achieves a 99% save rate – a milestone we have continued to uphold.
2024
In 2024, SVACA begins providing services for the Town of Los Gatos.
SVACA Volunteer Orientation Slated for April 26th
Looking for volunteers who want to make a difference for animals!
If you want to help animals in our community, you may want to consider volunteering at SVACA's Animal Care Center. We always need dedicated individuals who love animals and want to make a difference. You can do this by helping us achieve our goal of saving all healthy and treatable animals. You can also help us see to it that all of our animals receive the highest quality of care possible.
Next Volunteer Orientation Class is on April 26, 2017 from 3 - 5 p.m.
