It really doesn't get any better than this: Students come to SVACA's Animal Care Center and get to read to the kitties.

Kids in grades one through five practice reading aloud to adoptable cats, honing their skills, while also getting valuable cuddle time with the animals. It’s a win-win which also benefits the shelter animals, giving them exposure to children before they are adopted. The program has recently opened to middle and high school students who want to learn about cats and shelter animals and complete community service hours by helping to socialize them.

On April 1st, the Santa Clara Library’s Northside Branch will bring a large group of kids to the Animal Care Center for a K2K readathon as part of their April Drools Day celebration.

Kiddies 2 Kitties is held on the first and third Wednesdays each month from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in conjunction with the Palo Alto Humane Society, who facilitate the program at SVACA.
