Dog and Cat Days of Summer!

Going to Svaca
Hurry, Dad - we'll miss out on all the best animals!
We held a late summer event in an effort to provide much needed low cost services to all animal guardians in our area. 129 total animals received care, 81 received microchips, and a total of 198 vaccinations were administered. The demand far exceeded our expectations and served as proof for the need of low cost services in other municipalities as 75% of the animals and guardians serviced reside outside of SVACA's jurisdiction. We also held an adoption event where our goal was to place as many animals as possible into forever homes as the late summer is historically a slow period; 15 animals, or 25% of our adoptable animals, were placed into new forever homes. So, overall it was a hectic, but very productive day!

CELEBRATE COMPANION ANIMALS IS A SMASHING SUCCESS!
On May 5, 2007, we held our first annual adoptathon, Celebrate Companion Animals, in conjunction with the Silicon Valley Tails Pet Magazine and the North Shore Animal Rescue League.  Over 350 people attended and fourteen rescue groups participated.  Many animals were adopted and we even raised a bit of money for the animals through a raffle.  In fact, we adopted all of our dogs in one day!  It was a strange but terrific feeling to walk into our adoption lobby and see all the empty rooms!  SJ Sharkie even made an appearance!  Thanks so much to all who donated their time and/or items to make the event such a smashing success!  We would especially like to thank SVACA Volunteer Susan Pi for all her hard work in helping to coordinate the event.  We hope to see everyone again next year!
