Help Sick, Injured, Lost & Abandoned Animals
The basic budget for the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority comes
from the three municipalities it serves: Campbell, Monte Sereno and
Santa Clara. Additional funding from donations by individuals,
businesses and organizations allows us to extend our reach into the
community and help more animals to be happy, healthy companions.
There are two funds that support our mission and donations to either are
100% tax deductible.
Animal Assistance Fund
Donations to the Animal Assistance Fund may be used to expand services such as specialized veterinary care to rehabilitate sick and injured animals and give them a " second chance." Here are the stories of animals who benefited from SVACA's services and the Animal Assistance Fund.
Keeping the Faith!
YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH!
"Faith" was a special girl who had an unfortunate beginning before coming to SVACA. Her leg was badly broken in her last home and for some reason she was never taken to a veterinarian. Somehow she strayed from her former home and was found by a caring person who brought her to SVACA where she received much needed care and medical attention. Her previous owners never did come and look for her so Dr. Kureshi of Cupertino Animal Hospital generously donated his time to care for her. The Animal Assistance Fund was used to cover expenses. "Faith" was then cared for in a foster home until she could get back on her feet. She was soon returned to SVACA and, after only a few days in the adoption gallery, quickly found her new forever family! Click here to view a video of Faith.
Officer Morris and "Trinity"
Due to the many folks who have donated to the
Animal Assistance Fund, "Trinity" has truly received a "second chance"
at life.
TRINITY'S STORY
" Trinity" was one lucky gal who received a " second chance." Animal Control Officer Morris investigated a complaint of children abusing a small dog in Santa Clara and found a Chihuahua with a broken leg that had been left untreated. The owner decided to surrender the dog as she had only recently acquired her and admittedly could not provide the required care. " Trinity's" leg had been so badly injured so long ago that it had to be surgically removed. Dr. Kureshi of Cupertino Animal Hospital generously donated his time and performed the surgery. The Animal Assistance Fund was used to cover surgical expenses. " Trinity" quickly recovered from the surgery and was adopted into a loving home!
Chubz Fund
It is difficult for someone who loves animals to think about the ways that people can be cruel to dogs and cats. It is incomprehensible, but it happens.
Chubz was one of three cats who were set on fire by two teenagers in 2001. Two of the cats died immediately, but Chubz clung to life for two days before being euthanized because of the extent of his injuries.
The juveniles were charged with felony arson and cruelty to animals, but it was the story of Chubz and his heroic battle to live that captured the attention of the community. People wanted to contribute in any way they could to try to prevent future incidents of cruelty and to take care of animals who are victimized by the inhumanity of humans. The Chubz Fund was created to meet these goals.
